For me personally, beekeeping is neither for honey or profit, it’s a passionate and fascinating study into the realms of honey bees as a democratic superorganism along with everything my bees freely offer the world under dreadful environmental conditions. It’s an honest and personal philosophy about ecology without compromise on honey bee welfare or honey purity.
My apiary and methods allow my bees to exist as freely as they have for 80million years. They happily buzz in a near wild environment in natural FSC cedar wood hives, I do not use polythene hives or harmful chemicals and I do not exploit my bees or adulterate their honey that I proudly give away or sell locally to purists under my brand of Harewood Honey.
I only give what my bees give to me whilst keeping enough for themselves.
My bees and I both live within the boundaries of the Harewood Estate and I am enormously thankful to the Lascelles family for many years of mutually beneficial support.
